what I’ve been doing and photographing

August 2020

This month flew by with a lot of endings and also anti-climaxes. I said my final physical goodbye to my workplace of 3 years, to my flat of 3 years, and packed up to go abroad for the rest of 2020 (or so I thought). I spent time with friends by the seaside where I got so burnt that I’m not sure the tanlines will ever fade, sat in lots of gardens and porches, said goodbye to East London and said a fleeting hello to West London (or so I thought), and enjoyed a week of sun and baguettes with my family in France. Unfortunately the French caseload meant I then had to return to the UK for an unplanned quarantine in September, which I think was a blessing in disguise.

top film: A White White Day (Hvítur, hvítur dagur), a really gorgeous Icelandic film we watched on my mum’s glorious projector

top book: I read the entirety of Elena Ferrante’s Neapolitan Quartet in August, which I cannot believe I hadn’t done earlier and was a glorious whirlwind, my favourite was of course My Brilliant Friend

I saw no art and no theatre, but I did watch some brilliant telly including Euphoria, Mrs America and The Fall
