what I’ve been doing and photographing

October 2020

A lot happened this month, and also didn’t. (A lot happened this year, and also didn’t.) I had my last day at The Yard after over 3 years of working there. Which was a big deal, but also such a long time coming and with such little fanfare logistically possible that it felt less so - but my favourite colleague and girlfriend did send me one of the best bouquets I’ve ever received, which was nice. I had a delicious final few days in Amsterdam eating good food, seeing art and feeling the possibilities of the future. And I moved to Berlin, where I got to enjoy almost a month of new friends, freedom, international visits and endless culture until everything locked down again. I also went on an incredibly spooky roadtrip, but more on that later.

top film: I watched a lot of good films this month, Creep 2 with Desiree Akhavan was a highlight on the horror side and Crazy Rich Asians for an enjoyable watch

top book: The Colour Purple by Alice Walker, with intro from the author absolutely eviscerating the film adaptation

top art: loads of fantastic art in the European Month of Photography in Berlin, but the best was still playing with lasers with my aunt at Amsterdam’s new NXT Museum
