what I’ve been doing and photographing

puppet barge

Some photos I did for one of my absolute favourite performance spaces in London, The Puppet Barge. The first time I went we got lost in the labyrinth of Little Venice’s canal network and arrived very late, slipping into the top of the tiny raked space mid-show. Below, beyond the water level, a stage of inanimate objects somehow more expressive than many flesh and blood actors I’ve seen perform. Above, rain hammering down on the roof, and all around a spellbound audience shrouded in blankets within the barge’s wooden-panelled shell hung with ancient puppets. It’s the definition of the magic of theatre; thrilled to have got to capture a small slice of my love for it.
